Discover the secret language of birds in your backyard and around the world.
I created Tails Talk to share professionally researched and inspiring bird education experiences to individuals and organizations.
Every day on Tails Talk YouTube I share decodes of individual bird species exploring the fascinating ways birds are communicating with each other all around us.
The more we understand the language of birds, the more we appreciate nature and our place in it.
Join my YouTube channel for free. Hear and learn about our avian world every weekday.
Enjoy an individual birding reading journey for yourself or a fellow bird lover.
Bring ready-to-run group bird program curriculum to your community.

Liz Austin, Creator of Tails Talk
Liz holds master's degrees in Linguistics and Adult Education, a BA in Music and is a certified mindfulness practitioner and bird communication researcher. Over a 20-year career she has designed curriculum for global organizations including Disney, the Olympic Games, and University College London.
Through Tails Talk, she brings together science, language, music and the emerging field of bird communication to create educational experiences that are both informative and uplifting.
The Tails Talk Bird Program Series is the synthesis of everything she has spent two decades learning about: how people — and birds — speak, connect, and find meaning in the world.
The Hummingbird
A birding experience for individuals
Spend 40 minutes inside the wonderful and extraordinary world of the hummingbird.
This is a personal reading journey designed for the moments when you want to slow down—an experience to settle into with a cup of tea and an hour all to yourself.
Jewel of the Air takes you deep into the hummingbird’s hidden life: how they communicate, how they navigate thousands of miles alone, and the profound meaning they’ve held across cultures for centuries.
Throughout your birding journey, you’ll find quiet invitations to reflect on the natural world and your own place within it. ✨

Ready to begin your journey into the world of the hummingbird?
Bring the wonder of the hummingbird to your community
A complete, ready-to-run 60-minute group experience — researched, written, and structured so that any staff member or volunteer can deliver a professional-grade nature program the moment they open the guide.
No guest speaker. No preparation. No guesswork.
A fully crafted facilitation that moves participants from curiosity to wonder to genuine personal reflection — and leaves them seeing the natural world a little differently than before
Built for the communities that need it most
Designed specifically for assisted living, memory care, senior centers, nature centers, wellness programs, and adult community groups. Memory care and mixed-ability adaptations are woven directly into the script — so every participant can engage in a way that feels natural and dignified.
Everything is ready. Nothing is left to figure out.
A full 55–60 minute facilitation script written in warm, literary prose — with pacing notes and facilitator guidance built into every section. A participant field guide, trivia quiz, and six-prompt reflection guide ready to print and distribute. A complete menu of optional enhancement activities for before, during, and after the session.
Your team picks it up and leads it. That's the whole process.
